Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Iowa City Amateur Radio Club, held Wednesday, March 9, 2022, 7:00 PM, at the Pizza Ranch in Iowa City, Iowa

The minutes from the February 9, 2022 meeting were read and approved.

The Iowa secretary of state needs to know the name of the registered agent for ICARC.

There was a consensus to ask John Kauble, of Business Radio in Coralville, to be the trustee and registered agent for ICARC. (John Nichols, KFØHES, has made the request and John Kauble has graciously agreed. John Kauble’s business telephone number is 877 637 4507.)

Old business

The repeater for the 146.85 frequency is not working well.

New business

ICARC has two stations, not three. We need to move our equipment to a central location. John Kauble has agreed to store our equipment.

Gawain Wilson, a University of Iowa student, is asking for equipment, either donated or purchased cheaply. He is looking for a power cable for a Yaesu FT900 radio, and an 8-pin microphone or a microphone compatible with a Yaesu FT900

Storm spotter training will be held at the Coralville Public Library on Wednesday, March 23rd, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

There will be a posting on the ICARC website about suggestions for meeting programs.

ICARC needs communication support for a marathon event. Information is posted on the ICARC website.

For net communications, we may need to switch to the 147.15 repeater, because the 147.85 repeater is not working well. The subaudible tone for the 147.15 repeater is 192.8

Notices posted on ICARC.org, as of April 13, 2022

The CRANDIC Marathon between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City is being held this year on Sunday, April 24th.

Neil Johnson is looking for some additional volunteers.

The Johnson County ARES group will primarily be providing support for the half marathon portion of the event which starts at the Green State Credit Union HQ in North Liberty and ends at the Water works park in Iowa City. (The half Marathon joins the main Marathon route around on the way to Iowa City)

We would stage at the JECC at 7:00 AM and our scheduled portion of the event runs from about 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

I would like to have 6-8 volunteers for this event (2 experienced NCS operators located at the JECC, and 4-6 volunteers along the route.

If you are interested, please fill out this on-line form to indicate your availability.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

This public service event is a joint effort between the Linn and Johnson County ARES groups. However, Membership in Johnson County ARES/RACES is not required.
